Beach Dedication Ceremony

On July 22, 2006 Estelle Wright Rooney and her family were honored by the Blaisdell Lake Protective Association
with a plaque in "grateful recognition of their gift of this beach to the Association". The beach has now been
`officially dedicated to both Estelle and her brother Donald, and to the memories of both their father Chester Wright
and Estelle's husband Pat Rooney. Chan Blodgett presented Estelle with the plaque. Upon receiving the honor, Estelle
addressed the crowd who had gathered for this event: "I had wanted to see three things in my lifetime; firstly that the
Red Sox would win the world series; secondly, that this beach would be given to the Association for their enjoyment in
the years to come, and that there would be world peace...well, two out of three isn't bad!"
After the dedication, Estelle greeted her friends including Pud Ellsworth under the new sign for the beach that was
beautifully crafted by David Walker to be an exact replica of the one that had graced the beach for so many wonderful years.
THANK YOU Estelle and Donald!
